Current AdventuresOn August 15-17, we went canoeing at Camp James Ray in Lake Texoma. We had a great time, and got the canoeing merit badge. While we went on our trip, we stopped at a cove to have lunch. After canoeing we went swimming at Camp James Ray. We had a lot of fun and hope to do it again. In 2005 and 2009, Troop 563 enjoyed the special opportunity to be among the limited number of units to visit the fabled Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, and trek to the top of Mount Baldy. We had an amazing time on this unique Scout adventure. What We Do on CampoutsThe Troop makes an outing at least monthly. Hiking, canoeing, fishing, and orienteering are some of the main activities. Another favorite is spelunking (cave exploring). Camp skills, outdoorsmanship, cooking and survival skills are practiced and perfected. Summer and Winter Camps are occasionally attended by our Troop. These are occasions for hard-working Scouts to perform merit badge work which can not be over-looked. Previous High Adventure excursions have seen Troop 563 journey all the way to Bissett, Manitoba and then set off into the wilderness of the Northern Tier canoe trek. About Troop 563
